Week 1 Review

A lot of parity for the most part in the opening week, but clearly, last year's championship finalists are already in mid-season form. Defending Katoosh champion Nuckin Futz posted a 200-point game, and WildBruin also won its opener

The closest score of the weekend. Nice balance for S&B from Laveranues Coles (24.90 points), Terrell Owens (23.70) and Carson Palmer (21.76). Patriots Tom Brady (35) and Randy Moss (36) gave the Warriors a great game to watch on Sunday, but they came up short defensively.

WildBruin 182.31, Desert Dust Devils 156.61
Last year's Katoosh runner-up is off to a strong start. Eli Manning had a sensational game (40.43 points), while rookies Adrian Peterson (25.18) and Calvin Johnson (17) gave a nice boost. Shaun Alexander (20.70) represented the 30-and-over crowd well. DDD had nice balance, including four defenders with double-figure points. Kirk Morrison had 18 points. Kirk who? Yeah, that's what I said.

MysTIRRee 137.24, pancakes 96.23
LT (27.53), Javon Walker (21.90) and Torry Holt (21.30) were stellar for MysTIRRee, which overcame a string of zeroes by its defenders. Brian Westbrook (20.10) and T.J. Housmandzadeh (20) led the pancakes, who are in building mode. Unfortunately, that's what happens when you miss the draft and the autodraft doesn't work out on defense.

Nuckin Futz 200.80, Connecticut Killahs 93.58
DB Terrence McGee was one of the top scorers among defenders with 18.48 points, but it was Peyton Manning (32.02), Steve Smith (27), Andre Johnson (26.20) and Jason Witten (24.60) that were unmatched for the Futz. The Killahs got 22.30 points from Travis Henry, but the defense was nearly scoreless.

Highland Colts 209.50, The Rainbows 119.68
The Colts weren't even there for the draft, and what happens? Top score of the week, boosted by Plaxico Burress (41.40 points), Reggie Wayne (28.50) and Antonio Gates (26.70). Chad Johnson did well for the 'Bows (20.70), but Vince Young managed just 9.32 points.

Ala Wai Moonrise 174.68, M-town Saints 136.08
All things were equal except at quarterback, where Tony Romo delivered 46.40 points for the Mooners. Meanwhile, Arizona's O-line gave Matt Leinart mediocre protection, and the slow-footed lefty threw for just 109 yards and gave M-town just 7.58 points. Can Arizona just import Leinart's old O-line from USC?
